The First Annual Westwood Scarecrow Stroll
A Community-Building Fundraiser presented by the WRMS PSO
Join us for a fun, creative, and community-wide event to support our students and school programs! Build a scarecrow as a family, a team, a local business, or an individual and display it for all to see.
The Westwood Middle School (PSO) is hosting a town-wide, family-friendly event designed to foster community spirit, support WRMS, and create a festive, fall atmosphere around the Middle School. The Scarecrow Stroll is a creative and engaging fundraiser that invites all members of the community to participate.
How It Works
- Enter: Westwood students, families, businesses, clubs, and organizations can secure their spots by registering online with a $20.00 donation to the WRMS PSO.
- Create: Participants design and build their own unique, family-friendly scarecrow at home.
- Display: Entrants install their scarecrows at pre-assigned, visible locations around the Middle School the weekend of October 4th and 5th.
- Stroll & Vote: A digital map of all scarecrow locations will be made public. Residents and visitors can take a "Scarecrow Stroll" and vote on line via a QR code.
- Celebrate: The event concludes with a community Scarecrow Stroll where we will celebrate all participants and award prizes in various categories.

2025 Community and School Scarecrow Rules and Guidelines
Please use this checklist when constructing your Scarecrow:
*Complete the Application by Tuesday, September 30th and come up with a family-friendly
theme or design for your Scarecrow and start creating!
*Friday, October 4th - Sunday, October 5th you may install your masterpiece at your provided
location around the Middle School.
*Don’t let your Scarecrow blow away in a storm, get run over by a car, or mold in the hot sun! Check your Scarecrow is sturdy, weather-proof, wind-proof. If using hay or leaves, please
encase it in a garbage bag and tie with rubber bands or zip ties to prevent it from blowing away.
*Make a sign - Create and attach a laminated sign (at least 8 ½ in by 11 in) with your
Scarecrow’s name, School, Teacher’s Full Name and Grade (if applicable)
Family/Neighborhood, Business or Nonprofit Organization name. Without a name we cannot
include your scarecrow in the contest.
*Scarecrows must be family-friendly, created in good taste, and shall not reflect any social,
political, religious, or controversial themes. Those that do not follow these rules will be removed.
*Don’t forget about me (this is your Scarecrow talking)! Be sure to check on your Scarecrow
periodically to make sure he/she hasn’t lost a leg or they haven’t fallen over.
*For fun, Scarecrows will be judged through an on-line voting system open to the community. All
scarecrows are eligible. There will be multiple categories. Winners will be announced on
Saturday, October 25th.
*All entrants are required to remove their scarecrows by 11/8. Anything remaining after this date
will be discarded.
